Here is a simple privacy tip. Turn off remote content in all your email clients, both on your desktop and all your mobile devices. You can exclude trusted senders.
The reason is that spammers will include a 1 pixel image with a unique URL associated with your email address. If the email is opened and the image is downloaded, then the spammer has verified that your email address is valid, is now more valuable, and it can be resold to other spammers.
Bonus tip. If you suspect an email is spam, DO NOT unsubscribe from it as that link will only verify that your email address goes to a live human.
